MYANMAR : Information highlights
Myanmar

Much time has gone by since all one could get to visit Burma was a 7-day visa… Today, the shabby airport has made room for a glittering new one… Still, the former capital city bears the scars of a time one would like to have never existed and which, one hopes, will sink into oblivion… soon…

Friendly people welcome visitors and take great care of them. This heartfelt hospitality tells you about the genuine experience you’re just about to have: Myanmar is indisputably one of South-East Asia’s most wonderful countries and it is there for you to embrace.

Yangon: A port city mostly trading in rice, Yangon spreads over the banks of the Yangon River. Famous for its beautiful buildings dating back to the colonial era, the city is even more well-known for its beautiful Shwedagon Pagoda, so impressive in its golden finery. Life in the Chinese and Indian quarters with lots of markets at every corner is dense and intense!

Bagan: Bagan is a unique archaeological site reflecting a glorious past. More than 2,000 temples and pagodas spread over 45 square kilometres of red soil, where meanders the Irrawaddy River. If you want a sensation, we will go on a 900-year dive into the past and ride a tethered helium balloon taking us 120m up into the air to look at the ruins below…

Mandalay: Despite a merciless fire in the 1950’s, Mandalay – capital city of the Burmese Kingdom until 1856 – has retained much of its former grandeur. Not least, it is surrounded by old capitals such as Ava, Amarapura, Sagaing and Mingun, the sleeping beauty on the river banks.

Inle: From Heho Airport to Inle Lake, we follow a small road winding through the mountainous Shan State, a most important one within the Burmese territory, owing both to its size and economic influence. The Inle Lake, at a height of 1,000 metres, stuns with its natural beauty. Around October, according to the moon cycles, a major and colourful festival takes place there.

Arakan: Bordering Bangladesh, the Arakan region used to shelter a harbour called Mrauk Oo, where Portuguese and Dutch merchants as well as adventurers used to meet. This past grandeur is still quite visible. The 5-hour trip on the river before reaching the city leaves you with plenty of time to dream about the past.

Ngapali: Ngapali is a well-known beach in the Bay of Bengal, benefiting from pristine waters, where the Japanese used to cultivate real pearls during their occupation of the country.

Shwetaung: This beautiful beach can be accessed by road, via Pathein. It boasts 12 kilometres of uninterrupted sands. It is a small town, typical of the delta region.

Many cruises are possible around here: the famous “Road to Mandalay” or “RV-Pandau” are subject to a strict calendar available upon request.

Cambodia has yet another ace up its sleeve: the great many festivals throughout the year long, depending on moon cycles. Our team will be happy to provide you with all details and help you prepare for a personalized and unforgettable experience.
