THAILAND : Information highlights
Thailand is a dynamic, modern country about the same size as France. Thailand is a country that embraces modernity yet at the same time retains identity and charm from earlier times. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Bangkok: The capital city of Thailand welcomes you at the Ultra-Modern airport of Suvarnabhumi. Bangkok has many points of interest for the tourist. From the vestiges of its glorious past to the modern areas with their fashionable shops offering amazing sales, one is never bored! Sumptuous and well-appointed hotels provide high-end comfort and services.

Ayuthaya: One-hour drive away from Bangkok, this former capital city, founded in 1350, gives one a good idea of the cultural wealth of Thailand. Numerous temples and pagodas are a testimony to the past prosperity and magnificence of the kingdom.

Sukhothai and Sri Satchanalai: Located in the centre of Thailand, the historical sites of Sukhothai and Sri Satchanalai enchant visitors with their grace and peacefulness.

Sukhothai possesses Buddha statues of a rare beauty. Some 40 km away, Sri Satchanalai is a haven of peace nestled amidst well-kept gardens where religious constructions of the past help us better understand Thai people and their culture.

Chiang Mai: The historical and cultural capital city of Thailand, Chiang Mai gracefully unveils its secrets and helps us make out the various ethnic influences that form the roots of the Thai people, through the great wealth of arts and crafts to be found at its many shops and stalls.

Chiang Rai: Chiang Rai is beauty. Beauty of the peaceful mountainous scenery. Beauty where the nonchalant figures of strolling elephants appear here and there, going about their daily routines. Not far from here, the great Mekong River flows through the neighbouring countries of Laos and Myanmar joining hands at the Golden Triangle.

Nan: Unspoiled by mass tourism, this large northern city is a cultural jewel. The many ancient temples scattered throughout Nan possess almost untouched murals enchanting those who have a passion for times past. Nan also enjoys a refreshing atmosphere.

Thailand is also known for its beautiful coastlines and most of Thailand’s geography is delineated by kilometres of white-sand beaches.

Hua-Hin: Some 200 kilometres south of Bangkok, Hua Hin is, for Thai people, THE trendy beach! Many well-appointed hotels offer a “feet-in-the-sand” experience.

Koh Samed: Also close to Bangkok, this small island welcomes people looking for peace as well as excitment! Young students bring along their guitar and join tourists on the west coast for a romantic or more rock’n’roll sunset!

Koh Kood: At the tip of the kingdom, this jewel of wild tiny island stuns even the most seasoned traveller with its scenery of unspoilt forests and sandy beaches fringed with coconut trees.

Koh Samui: This island enjoys a fame derived from its white sandy beaches and has undergone quite a boom over the last 15 years. Samui now has a wealth of charming restaurants and hotels to boast and also provides all kinds of water sports and activities.

Koh Tao: The pearl of the Gulf of Thailand has everything to offer the deep-sea and scuba diving enthusiast. Still quite unspoiled by tourist crowds, it is also a haven of peace for nature lovers and the romantic.

Phuket: 50-km long and 30-km wide, Phuket is Thailand’s biggest island. Beautiful beaches surround a mountainous area and a charming city endowed with some buildings and houses of sino-Portuguese architecture, unique in Thailand.

Krabi, Koh Phi-Phi and Koh Lanta: November to April is the best time of year to discover and enjoy these fantastic islands offering the most breathtaking seascapes in Thailand. Pristine water, fine sands, colourful, curious fish make for an unforgettable experience for swimmers.

Kao Lack and its kilometres-long beach is well-worth a visit as well as Koh Lipe, an island belonging to the Tarutao archipelago (national park).
